Chapter 1

The Mafia Boss Finds His Missing Maid Imprisoned Beneath His Mansion Before She Points At The Adviser He Trusted Like A Brother.

Dominic Vale stood over the open floor hatch in the grand foyer of his Hudson Valley estate and felt the mansion go silent around him.

Warm daylight poured through tall windows.

The chandeliers glowed over marble flooring, the curved staircase, the hidden hatch, and the wooden ladder dropping into darkness beneath the house.

Beside him, four-year-old Harper Carter trembled in her pale-pink lace dress.

She pointed down with a shaking hand.

“That’s Mommy! She was knocking all night!”

Dominic looked into the cellar.

At first, he saw only dim stone walls and the bottom of the ladder.

Then he saw Mia.

Disheveled light-brown hair.

Torn cream cardigan.

Weak body curled near the cellar wall.

Bruised wrists.

Dry lips.

Eyes barely open.

Dominic’s jaw tightened until every guard in the foyer felt the shift.

He removed his black suit jacket.

“Nobody leaves this property.”

One guard steadied Harper. Another moved to the front entrance. A third stepped toward the staircase.

Dominic descended the ladder quickly but carefully, disappearing from warm mansion light into the cold cellar.

“Mia,” he said.

Her eyes struggled to focus.

He cut the restraints from her wrists and wrapped his jacket around her shoulders.

Above them, Harper cried, “Mommy!”

Mia’s cracked voice barely rose.

“Harper… is she safe?”

Dominic looked up and nodded to the child.

“She’s safe.”

Then Nathan Cross appeared at the hatch.

White shirt.

Dark trousers.

Controlled concern.

Too controlled.

“Dom, I had no idea she was here.”

Mia’s entire body stiffened.

Her fingers gripped Dominic’s sleeve with sudden terror.

Dominic turned slowly.

Mia lifted one shaking hand and pointed upward.

“He locked me in.”

Nathan’s face changed.

Not enough for strangers.

Enough for Dominic.

The guards moved behind Nathan.

Dominic stared up from the darkness, motionless and cold.
