My phone was already in my hand when Trisha said, “You wouldn’t dare.”
That was her first real mistake.

I opened the education account app.
The screen faced me only.

Trisha looked up slowly.
“What did you do?”
I held her gaze.
“Exactly what you taught me to do.”
She shook her head.
“No.”
“You took from a child because you thought family meant access.”
Her hand tightened around the jar.
I said quietly, “Then Trisha can pay her own tuition.”
The backyard went completely silent.
