Chapter 10 - THE REPLACED BOTTLE

The restored footage showed Nolan wearing gloves.

He removed the pediatric antibiotic from the cabinet and placed it inside his briefcase. Then he left a pink bottle on the shelf.

Beatrix entered twenty minutes later.

She did not appear surprised to find it.

The two had coordinated.

Pharmacy analysis confirmed that the bottle Nolan delivered came from the private compounding service Beatrix used. Nolan’s firm paid for it through an estate-consulting account.

The order listed the medicine as an adult formulation.

Nolan knew the concentration.

He also knew the child’s age and weight because he drafted the guardianship documents.

“This removes any claim that the overdose happened by mistake,” Rachel said.

Vivian watched the footage without speaking.

Nolan did not touch Sabina.

He did not force the liquid into her mouth.

He placed the weapon where willing people could use it.

That was how he lived inside respectable distance.

Grace traced the payment account to Bellweather Holdings, a company created by Beatrix six months earlier.

Bellweather was named as the consultant receiving five million dollars after the property loan closed.

Its sole owner was Beatrix.

Thatcher confronted his mother through their attorneys after learning about the company.

He accused her of stealing his future.

Beatrix responded that Thatcher would have destroyed the money anyway.

Their recorded jail calls became another source of evidence.

“You said the house would be ours,” Thatcher told her.

“It was never yours.”

“You used me.”

“You needed very little encouragement.”

“What about Sabina?”

“You were holding her.”

“You gave her the dose.”

“You stopped me from calling Vivian.”

Neither denied the central acts.

They argued only about who deserved more blame.

Thatcher then told investigators where Beatrix stored financial records.

A locked cabinet inside a rented office contained years of estate invoices, forged household expenses, and payments to Nolan.

Beatrix had diverted more than two million dollars from Vivian’s accounts.

She paid Thatcher’s debts selectively, keeping him dependent.

She also paid private investigators to monitor Vivian’s calls and friendships.

The isolation had been deliberate.

Vivian found reports describing every person she had attempted to contact after the marriage.

A college friend was labeled financially disruptive.

A former employee was described as disloyal.

Grace Holloway appeared in one report after sending Vivian a holiday card.

Beatrix wrote beside her name:

Do not allow renewed contact.

Vivian had believed friendships faded naturally.

In reality, messages were intercepted, invitations canceled, and callers told she wished to be left alone.

The mansion was not only a property they wanted.

It was the place where they contained her.

Vivian asked Martin to restore access for former staff members Beatrix had dismissed. Several agreed to speak with investigators.

One was Clara Owens, Sabina’s former nanny.

Beatrix fired her three months earlier after accusing her of stealing jewelry.

Clara denied the accusation and left Texas immediately.

Martin found her in Oklahoma.

When Rachel contacted her, Clara began crying.

“I thought they would kill Vivian eventually.”

“Why didn’t you report it?”

“I tried.”

Clara had called Nolan.

He told her she had misunderstood strict family discipline and warned that Beatrix would prosecute her for theft if she repeated the allegation.

Clara kept one item from the mansion.

A memory card from the nursery monitor.

She had removed it after seeing Thatcher strike the wall beside Vivian while Sabina watched.

The card contained recordings predating the dinner plan.

Clara mailed it overnight.

The final clip showed Sabina developing a fever two days before Nolan replaced the medicine.

Beatrix stood beside the bed and spoke on the phone.

“The child is already sick,” she said. “We may not need to create anything.”

A male voice replied:

“Then use what nature provided.”

May you like

The voice belonged to Nolan.

👉 Nolan did not cause Sabina’s original infection, but he recognized her illness as the opportunity his entire plan required.
