Millions of viewers saw Richard strike Vanessa.
They did not see the milk.
They did not hear Emily crying.

For twenty-four hours, public opinion followed Martin’s chosen frame.

Commentators called Richard violent and controlling.

Richard released the complete kitchen audio and the hallway footage only after Emily’s identity had been protected.
He did not edit out the slap.

Richard moved it to a secure bank vault.

“Because Richard would have destroyed it.”

“To carry out Julia’s intent.”
Emily’s late mother had never mentioned such an amendment to Grace or the bank.
Martin smiled faintly.
“You all believed Vanessa was the entire danger.”
Richard stared at him.
“No. We believed you helped create it.”
Martin’s smile disappeared.
