Chapter 19 - Maribel testifies against our mother
Maribel cried before she even took the oath.
She hated being there.
She testified:
Isolde loved Tamsin.
Also:
“I watched Mom become obsessed with proving Gideon was too soft.”
She saw three videos.
Did she question context?
Not enough.
Did she ever participate?
One time.
Isolde asked Maribel to sit at dinner and “not rescue Tamsin” if she cried.
Maribel agreed.
What happened?
Tamsin wanted another biscuit.
Isolde said no.
Tamsin cried.
Maribel did nothing.
Later Isolde wrote:
Even Maribel saw the manipulation.
Maribel stared at that text in court.
“I thought I was helping with consistency.”
Then:
“When did you realize something was wrong?”
“When she started talking about what the court would see.”
There.
Then Isolde looked at her daughter.
Not angry.
Heartbroken.
That was worse.
Maribel had not chosen me over her.

She had chosen reality over family loyalty.
Those are not the same.
