Claire’s legal team already possessed a preliminary bank alert.
At 6:12 that morning, nearly nine million dollars had moved from a corporate reserve account into a newly created holding company.
The holding company was registered in Delaware.
Its manager was not Adrian.
It was Paige.
She stared at the document in horror.
“I never opened that company.”
Adrian’s face twisted.
“You signed the formation papers.”
“You said they were for our future home.”
Another lie built over a signature.
The account had been created using copies of Paige’s identification, but the access credentials traced to Adrian’s private office.
Judge Calder looked toward Crane.
“Did your client disclose this transfer?”
“No, Your Honor.”
“Did your team advise him to move corporate funds?”
“Absolutely not.”
The judge instructed the clerk to contact the appropriate financial authorities and preserve the account pending review. He did not announce a final ruling, but the seriousness of the order was unmistakable.
Adrian leaned toward his attorneys.
“This is my operating reserve.”
Claire’s attorney responded.
“It belongs to a company whose sole voting shareholder is Claire Lane.”
Adrian struck the table with his palm.
“I built that company!”
The twins recoiled.
Claire immediately placed both arms around them.
Judge Calder’s voice cut across the room.
“Control yourself, Mr. Hollis.”
For the first time, Adrian looked less like an executive and more like a frightened man trapped inside his own exaggerations.
He had worked hard.
He had negotiated deals.
He had expanded the business.
But he had been paid for that work through salary, bonuses, and executive benefits.
Success did not erase Claire’s ownership.
Adrian had confused importance with possession.
Paige removed her diamond necklace and placed it on the table.
“He gave me this from the corporate account, didn’t he?”
No one answered immediately.
The necklace had been purchased through a client-development expense.
So had several hotel stays, a luxury apartment, and the red sports car Paige drove to court.
Claire looked down at her wedding ring.
For years, Adrian criticized every company expense she questioned. He called her suspicious, controlling, and ungrateful.
Meanwhile, he used the company she built to finance the life he planned after replacing her.
Paige turned toward the court officer.
“I will give you access to everything he put in my name.”
Adrian stared at her.
“You cannot do this.”
