Chapter 7 - The Email Sent Before SunriseThe email was recovered from Adrian’s business phone.

He had deleted it before entering the courtroom, but the company’s archive preserved every executive communication.
It had been sent at 5:48 a.m. to Paige and two members of Adrian’s private financial team.
By noon, I will control the company and temporary custody. Claire will accept the settlement once she understands she has no resources left.
Claire read the sentence without moving.
Samuel and Owen could not see the screen, but they watched her face.
The email continued.
The court will enforce the prenup.
The boys will remain with the financially stable parent.
Once the ownership claim is dismissed, terminate Claire’s access to all company systems and properties.
Adrian had planned the day like a corporate acquisition.
Take control.
Remove access.
Secure the assets.
Use the twins to force compliance.
Judge Calder’s expression hardened as he read.
“This court does not award children according to which parent can manufacture the appearance of wealth.”
Adrian’s attorney attempted to argue that the email reflected an aggressive settlement position, not fraud.
Then Claire’s legal team presented a second message.
Adrian had instructed the company’s security director to deactivate Claire’s building access at noon—before any court ruling existed.
He had ordered the twins’ school to list Paige as an emergency contact.
He had prepared a press release announcing that Claire was stepping away from the company for “personal health reasons.”
None of it had happened yet.
But all of it was scheduled.
Adrian had entered court expecting victory so complete that he prepared to erase Claire’s role before the judge spoke.
Paige covered her face.
“You told me the judge had already agreed.”
The courtroom became completely still.
Judge Calder looked over his glasses.
“Mr. Hollis told you this court’s decision had been predetermined?”
“Yes.”
Adrian’s lawyers exchanged alarmed looks.
Adrian pointed toward Paige.
“She misunderstood.”
“No,” Paige said. “You said your attorney knew the judge.”
Crane stood instantly.
“That statement is false. Neither I nor anyone on my team represented that we possessed influence over this court.”
Adrian’s legal strategy was not simply collapsing.
It was isolating him from everyone who had once protected his image.
Claire looked toward the sealed envelope still resting near the judge.
Her attorneys had saved one item for last.
The original voting proxy.
It contained a clause Adrian had never bothered to read.
The moment he challenged Claire’s ownership, his executive authority ended automatically.
Not after judgment.
Not after divorce.
