Judge Calder refused to make eight-year-old children perform their fear before a packed gallery.
Instead, the court-appointed guardian summarized their private interviews.
Both boys loved their father.
Both wanted to continue seeing him.
But both described months of pressure.
Adrian repeatedly told them Claire might take them away forever.
He asked which parent they would choose if a judge forced them to decide.
He showed Samuel photographs of a new bedroom in Paige’s apartment and promised expensive electronics if he helped “tell the truth” about Claire.
He told Owen that his mother could lose the house because she did not work.
Owen began secretly collecting coins in a jar because he believed Claire would soon be homeless.
Claire covered her mouth when she heard that.
She remembered finding the jar beneath his bed. Owen said he was saving for a bicycle.
He had been trying to save his mother.
Adrian stood silently while the guardian continued.
The boys also described an argument three nights before the hearing. Adrian warned Claire that if she challenged the prenup, she might see Samuel and Owen only on holidays.
Samuel heard him say, “You will choose the company over them because that is who you are.”
Claire had answered, “You do not know who I am at all.”
Judge Calder looked toward Adrian.
“Did you make those statements?”
Adrian’s shoulders sagged.
“I was angry.”
“That does not answer the question.”
“Yes.”
Paige began crying quietly in the gallery.
She had believed Adrian’s description of Claire as distant and career-obsessed. Now she understood that every accusation against Claire described something Adrian intended to create.
A mother without resources.
A mother without a home.
A mother separated from her children.
Not because those conditions existed.
Because they would make her easier to control.
The guardian recommended that Claire retain primary physical care while Adrian’s contact was evaluated under structured conditions. The final custody decision would come later, after psychological assessments and review of his conduct.
Adrian looked toward the twins.
“Boys, you know I love you.”
Samuel pressed closer to Claire.
Owen did not look away from his father.
“We love Mom too,” he said.
Adrian had expected the twins to be leverage.
Instead, their simple loyalty exposed the cruelty of forcing children to choose.
Judge Calder gathered the original incorporation records into one stack.
The hearing was nearing its conclusion.
The final decision would not only address the company and temporary custody.
