Chapter 1

Family Skipped a Little Girl’s Surgery Then Tried to Steal Her Medical Fund With a Forged Signature.
Nathan Carter was still kneeling beside his daughter’s wheelchair when his brother screamed across the bank lobby.
“She’s six! She won’t even remember the surgery!”
Lucy flinched so hard the stuffed giraffe nearly slipped from her hands.
Nathan pulled her gently against his chest, shielding her ears with one hand while keeping the other on the wheelchair. Her white cast stretched stiffly in front of her, her small body exhausted from the surgery everyone in his family had promised to help with.
Behind the glass partition, Brandon fought against the police officer holding him back, his black tuxedo wrinkled, bow tie hanging loose from his neck.
Nathan slowly looked up.
His face did not twist with rage.
It went still.
That was worse.
“You tried to steal her medical fund.”
The bank lobby froze.
His mother sobbed into a tissue.
His father stood behind the glass with his head lowered, refusing to meet Nathan’s eyes.
Then the old man finally lifted his chin and pointed toward the counter.
“That money belongs to the family.”
Nathan stared at him, stunned by the emptiness in his voice.
Lucy’s little fingers grabbed Nathan’s sleeve.
That touch stopped him from stepping forward.
The secured office door opened.
Elena, the bank manager, walked into the lobby holding a document sealed inside a clear evidence sleeve.
She stopped between Nathan and his family.
Her voice was calm.
“This signature was forged yesterday.”
Nathan’s father went pale.
Brandon stopped struggling.
Nathan stood fully beside Lucy’s wheelchair and placed one protective hand on her shoulder.
“No one touches my daughter’s future.”
A second officer entered with another folder.
Elena turned the forged document toward him.
And Nathan’s family finally understood the bank had not lost the truth.

It had preserved it.
