Chapter 10

No paternity confirmation was completed at the wedding estate.
No one was arrested.
Garrett’s mother’s full role was not revealed.
The final fate of the wedding remained unknown.
The confrontation ended under warm Long Island sunset light with Garrett Hale standing between Mave, Posie, Coraline, and the family members arriving from the estate house.
His white wedding suit glowed against the floral decorations.
His face held heartbreak, fury, and something more dangerous than both.
Control.
Mave stood behind him, wet hair over one shoulder, pastel gown clinging from the rain, Posie held tightly against her chest.
The little girl watched Garrett with pale gray eyes that had already changed the entire wedding.
Coraline stood in her bridal gown and veil, humiliated and furious, no longer certain the ceremony could be saved.
Wesley and the security team closed the gates and moved guests back with quiet precision.
Garrett’s mother remained near the aisle, expression frozen between command and alarm.
No final truth was spoken.
But the lie had already lost its shape.
Mave had not left.
Posie had not been a mistake.
And Garrett had not looked away.
He kept Mave and the child behind him as he stared toward his family.

The groom had not said the wedding was over.
He simply stopped being the man Coraline was about to marry.
