PART 1
“On the second day of marriage, he slapped his wife for asking his sister to wash dishes… then learned she owned the entire family empire.”
Lillian Vale sat on the marble kitchen floor with one hand against her red cheek and the other pressed near the phone that had slid under the breakfast table.
The lake outside the tall windows looked peaceful.
Inside the kitchen, coffee spread across the white marble like a stain nobody wanted to claim.
Colton stood over her in a navy polo, his hand still raised, his face twisted with rage.
“How dare you order my sister around!”
Reagan leaned against the island in white pants and a pale blue top, holding a coffee mug she had not washed since the wedding brunch started.
She looked down at Lillian and smiled.
“Clean the floor too.”
At the breakfast table, Cynthia sat perfectly straight in her pale blue outfit, watching her new daughter-in-law like she had been waiting for this moment.
Colton’s father sat beside her, silent and tense.
Lillian tasted blood at the corner of her lip.
But she did not scream.
She did not beg.
She slowly turned her eyes toward the small security camera above the pantry door.
Then she reached for her phone.
Colton noticed.
His face tightened.
“What are you doing?”
Lillian’s voice was quiet.
“Those cameras don’t belong to you.”
Cynthia rose from the table so fast her chair scraped the marble.
“What did you just do?”
A notification sound echoed from Lillian’s phone.
Then another.
Then another.
Reagan’s smirk disappeared.
Lillian stood slowly.
She removed her wedding ring and placed it on the wet countertop beside the spilled coffee.
“I activated the protocol.”
Her eyes moved from Colton to Cynthia to Reagan.
“Everything you live on is mine.”
The kitchen went silent.
For two days, they had treated Lillian like a bride they had purchased into obedience.

Now the house itself had begun answering to her.
