Julian’s responsibility survived the founder who recruited him.
Nora testified under a cooperation agreement.
She admitted the affair, investor presentations, expenditure of trust money, and desire to inherit Iris’s place. She described the edited videos Julian showed her and the clinic document bearing her forged signature.
“You benefited from believing him,” Iris’s attorney asked.
“Yes.”
“Did you question why Iris never appeared live?”
“Not enough.”
Michael testified that Julian paid him to impersonate Marcus. Voss testified regarding the final procedure. Eva supplied original audio.
Every witness carried personal culpability. Independent records corroborated their accounts.
The jury convicted Julian of attempted murder, aggravated medical assault, false imprisonment, coercive control, identity theft, corporate fraud, obstruction, evidence destruction, unlawful surveillance, and conspiracy involving human experimentation.
He was acquitted of ordering Raymond’s staged plane crash and Dr. Voss’s disappearance because both men had arranged their own absences.
He was acquitted of kidnapping Michael’s family personally. Raymond’s network had controlled that threat.
The distinctions mattered.
Julian received a life-equivalent sentence with possible parole only after several decades. Criminal proceeds funded patient restitution, employee pensions, and Iris’s medical damages.
At sentencing, Iris did not remove her coat.
Her written statement described the scars without displaying them.
“The first court saw my back because Julian built a case around my supposed health and consent. I will not keep exposing my body so every later institution can feel certain.”
Judge Lang’s successor accepted the statement as evidence through the authenticated medical record.
Julian asked to speak directly to Iris.
She permitted one sentence.
“I should have chosen you over the company.”
Iris answered:
“You should have recognized I was never a choice you owned.”
Julian died years later in prison after a cardiac illness. Iris received notice but no final letter.
The divorce remained final.
The conviction remained final.
His death did not become absolution or a second victory.
