Hospital administrators shut down the duplicate profile within minutes.
The false record contained no second child, but it could have been used to hide a transfer.
If staff believed Owen had already been discharged through another department, a real abduction might not trigger an immediate alarm.
The creation command came from a scheduled packet attached to Richard’s forged medical directive.
Richard had planted it before the flight.
The program activated when Owen’s breathing status changed from critical to stable.
Every improvement triggered another contingency.
Amelia sat beside the incubator while technicians erased Richard’s access.
“He turned my son’s recovery into a countdown,” she said.
Grace stood behind her.
“And every countdown is being stopped.”
The statement was true.
It still did not make Amelia feel safe.

Richard could argue that his actions in the helicopter were an attempt to stop an unstable mother from fleeing with their child.
The claim was absurd beside the video of him pushing her.
But Richard’s strategy had never required one perfect lie.
He created many smaller lies and hoped one would delay the truth.
The prosecution added attempted evidence fabrication involving Owen’s medical identity.
Richard’s attorney withdrew from the case after discovering Richard had used the firm’s fax system without authorization.
A court-appointed lawyer replaced him.
For the first time, Richard lost control over the polished version of himself presented to the public.
He appeared at the next hearing in detention clothing.
Amelia did not attend.
She spent the morning holding Owen skin-to-skin beneath a warm blanket.

The offshore transfer had already begun processing before Amelia fell.

Marcus confronted Ben.

“Then why say confirmed?”
“Richard told me to make him believe the plan was complete.”
“Why?”
Ben looked toward his attorney.

Ben had planned to betray Richard after the money moved.
Richard had planned to blame Ben after Amelia died.
Their partnership contained no loyalty.
Only shared crime and competing escape plans.
Marcus asked where Ben believed the vault might be.
“Below the nursery.”
