Victor Hale never threatened loudly when the room mattered.
He preferred elegance.

“Noah, this is easier if you cooperate.”
Noah hated her voice more than Victor’s.
Victor slid a folded statement across the desk.
“You will tell the judge that your mother cannot provide for you. You will make it clear you choose me.”
“And if I don’t?”
Victor turned the tablet slightly, showing a nurse entering Grace’s room.
“Then I start reviewing expenses.”
Noah felt something inside him go still.
Fear first.
Then calculation.
He nodded slowly.
Victor believed he had won.
But Noah had learned from his mother how to listen when powerful people underestimated silence.
That night, after Victor left, Noah copied what he could without opening anything that would trigger alerts.
