Chapter 12 - the voice inside noah

Lucía backed away from the platform.
Young Noah sat upright without assistance.
The blue lights had vanished, but the chamber remained illuminated by the emergency system. His face still belonged to the frightened eight-year-old who had asked whether he deserved to be humiliated at his birthday party.
His expression did not.
He looked at Noah Lawson with calm recognition.
“You accessed the wrong archive,” he said in Daniel’s voice.
Noah Lawson’s pistol lowered slightly.
“Daniel?”
The child smiled.
“Not exactly.”
Elena pressed both hands against the communication console.
“Noah, can you hear me?”
His head turned toward the camera.
For one second, his eyes softened.
“Mom?”
Relief nearly brought Elena to her knees.
Then his posture changed again.
“Do not disconnect the chamber,” he said in Daniel’s voice. “The boy’s identity is intact, but the archive has temporarily mapped itself through his speech centers.”
Michael examined the readings.
“That’s possible,” he said. “The neural pattern may be translating stored recordings through him.”
“You mean he isn’t possessed,” Sofia said.
“No. But the system could be using his brain to reconstruct Daniel’s messages.”
Elena looked at her son.
“Noah, listen to me. You are at home. Aunt Lucía is beside you.”
“I know,” he said in his own voice.
Then Daniel’s tone returned.
“Brooke, lower the weapon.”
Brooke stared at the screen.
She no longer held a weapon. Sofia did.
Yet she obeyed as though Daniel stood in front of her, lowering her empty hands.
“I thought you were dead,” she whispered.
“Parts of me are.”
Tears filled her eyes.
“You hid Noah Lawson from me.”
“I hid him from Father.”
Noah Lawson stepped closer to the child.
“You abandoned me.”
Daniel’s reconstructed voice replied through young Noah.
“I saved you.”
“You left me with Brooke and disappeared.”
“I believed she loved you.”
“I did love him,” Brooke said.
Noah Lawson did not look at her.
Young Noah’s head tilted slightly.
“The archive contains your treatment history,” Daniel’s voice said. “The deterioration can be stopped without using the boy.”
“Where?”
“In the missing one percent.”
Noah Lawson’s expression hardened.
“You planned this.”
“I planned for you to choose.”
“Choose what?”
“Complete the transfer and risk killing Elena’s son, or release Catherine and receive the final protocol.”
The room went silent.
Catherine was alive and held by Noah Lawson’s people. Daniel had built the archive as leverage long before his death—or disappearance.
“Where is Catherine?” Elena demanded.
Noah Lawson looked toward the camera.
“She is safe.”
“You pointed armed men at her.”
“She refused to cooperate.”
“Release her.”
“Give me the final protocol.”
“We don’t have it.”
Young Noah spoke again.
“Elena does.”
She stared at him.
Daniel’s voice continued.
“The final one percent was not stored digitally. It was encoded into a legal instrument she has carried for eight years.”
“What instrument?” Elena asked.
“The Rivera family trust.”
Arturo raised his head.
“No.”
Daniel’s reconstructed voice ignored him.
“Every amendment, asset transfer, and beneficiary clause contains part of the sequence. Elena must reconstruct it through the original paper copies.”
“The trust is thousands of pages,” she said.
“Only the documents dated on Noah’s birthday.”
Elena remembered Arturo’s handwritten date on the northern property transaction. It had not been a sentimental reference.
It had been an encryption marker.
Arturo struggled upright.
“If those clauses are combined, they will expose every hidden asset.”
“Good,” Elena said.
“They will also transfer control of Rivera Biomedical.”
“To whom?”
He looked at young Noah.
The child answered in his own voice.
“To me?”
Arturo closed his eyes.
Daniel had built the trust to pass the company to Elena’s son if the archive activated.
The birthday humiliation had occurred while the final property transfer completed. Arturo might have recognized the compound in the mud, but his celebration had also kept guests focused away from the legal notices arriving on every phone.
He had not merely tried to protect Noah.
He had tried to preserve control of the company before the child’s inheritance became active.
Elena looked at her father.
“You knew the trust would change today.”
“I knew it might.”
“That is why you demanded I restore the yacht and academy payments. You needed proof I still controlled the accounts.”
“I needed to know whether Daniel’s trigger had activated.”
“You used my son as bait.”
“I did not know Brooke had injected him.”
Brooke laughed through her tears.
“You knew enough.”
At the mansion, Mrs. Bennett quietly moved behind Noah Lawson.
Lucía saw her and began guiding young Noah away from the platform.
Noah Lawson raised his pistol.
“Stop.”
Young Noah looked directly at him.
Daniel’s voice returned.
“You won’t shoot him. Without the final protocol, his death becomes yours.”
Noah Lawson’s hand trembled.
For the first time, Elena saw the sick man beneath the manipulation. His skin was unnaturally pale. A slight tremor ran through his neck and jaw.
He was dying.
That did not make him harmless.
Elena opened the audit files stored on her phone.
“The original trust documents are in the mansion vault.”
Mrs. Bennett shook her head toward the camera.
“No. Arturo replaced them.”
Arturo did not deny it.
“Where are the originals?” Elena asked.
“In Catherine’s possession,” he said.
Noah Lawson smiled.
“Then we have the same problem.”
A noise came from the mountain’s upper level.
Engines.
Multiple vehicles had entered the tunnel.
Sofia checked the security display.
Armed teams moved toward the archive.
“Whose men?” Elena asked.
Arturo examined their uniforms.
“The Rivera board’s private security.”
“You called them?”
“No.”
Michael enlarged the image.
A woman walked at the center of the group.
She wore a dark suit and carried no weapon.
Lucía appeared on another monitor, still guiding young Noah away from the mansion chamber.
The woman entering the mountain looked exactly like her.
Same face.
Same height.
Same silver bracelet.
Elena turned toward the live feed of her sister in the mansion.
Then back toward the woman approaching the archive.
May you like
Arturo whispered, “The replacement program never ended.”
👉 With one Lucía protecting Noah at the mansion and another leading armed men beneath the mountain, Elena realized someone had been copying members of her family for years.
