Every Bellrose-connected device was removed. Staff used independent monitors and sealed medication supplies. Police guarded the corridor and searched every person who entered.
Phase Three did not refer to another chemical inside Emma’s skin.
It referred to her immune response.
The earlier compounds caused Emma’s body to produce a rare regenerative protein. Bellrose intended to collect blood during the peak response and use it to complete a patent application.
The patent deadline was Christmas midnight.
Someone had built the entire attack around obtaining a legally documented emergency sample.
Hospital staff had already drawn blood during treatment.
The tubes were sent to the laboratory under routine procedures.
One tube was missing.
Security footage showed a technician carrying it through a service elevator.
The technician’s badge belonged to Simon Vale.
Police found the real Simon unconscious inside the waterfront warehouse.
Someone had stolen his coat and identification.
Simon survived.
He denied activating Phase Three.
“The sample completes Rose-3,” he said. “Whoever controls it can claim Bellrose’s next generation of scar treatments.”
“Naomi?” Hannah asked.
“She designed the legal route. But she doesn’t understand the final science.”
“Who does?”
Simon looked toward Richard.
“Evelyn.”
Everyone believed Evelyn had opposed the experiments.
Simon revealed that she had funded a secret branch of the research after discovering Hannah and Ava’s rapid-healing trait.
Evelyn claimed she wanted to create safe treatments for burn victims.
She refused deliberate injury but continued collecting family samples without full consent.
Richard stared at Simon.
“My wife was working with you?”
“Until she discovered Naomi planned to commercialize Rose-3.”
Evelyn attempted to destroy the project.
She moved Emma’s shares into a protective trust.
But the genetic sample requirement remained inside the patent documents she helped create.
Even after her death, her research architecture made Emma valuable.
The stolen blood tube was traced toward Bellrose headquarters.
Police surrounded the building.
Naomi’s executor code opened the underground laboratory, but she was not inside.
Ava entered through a different door and surrendered.
Madeline saw her daughter for the first time in eleven years.
Neither rushed into an embrace.
Ava carried scars along her neck and beneath one eye. Madeline lifted a hand but stopped before touching her.
“May I?”
Ava nodded once.
Madeline cupped her daughter’s uninjured cheek and began sobbing.
Their reunion did not erase the years, the secrecy, or Ava’s role in placing the box beneath Emma’s tree.
But it began with permission.
Ava gave police the copied memory drive.
The files proved Naomi ordered the original Bellrose contamination with help from someone whose name had been removed.
Evelyn restored the deleted signature before her death.
The hidden partner was Richard’s brother, Dr. Arthur Blake.
Daniel believed Arthur died before Bellrose was founded.
Richard looked toward the document.
“That’s impossible.”
Arthur had not died.
He changed his name and continued working through Bellrose clinics.
His current identity was Dr. Simon Vale.
Everyone turned toward Simon.
He stood beside the laboratory door.
The unconscious man rescued from the warehouse was not Richard’s nephew or a separate scientist.
He was Richard’s older brother, altered by age, surgery, and a new legal identity.
Simon smiled faintly.
“You finally read the entire page.”
Then the laboratory lights went red.
