Chapter 24 - THE VERDICT
Ryan was convicted on the principal domestic-assault and unlawful-restraint offenses, coercion-related conduct recognized under charged law, and financial fraud/forgery counts supported by documents.
One more serious count tied to intentionally causing the premature delivery did not result in conviction because the prosecution could not prove the required causal and mental elements beyond reasonable doubt.
That was correct.
I cried anyway.
Not because I wanted more punishment.
Because uncertainty felt like somebody leaving a door open.

I knew.
Sentencing later produced substantial incarceration, restitution obligations, and protective conditions.
