Chapter 13 - Robert moves out
I asked Robert to stay elsewhere.
He did not argue.
That helped.
He moved to a furnished apartment near his office.
Lucas asked:
“Are you divorcing?”
“No decision yet.”
“Because of Aunt Megan?”
“Because Dad and I need to work out some adult things.”
“Did Dad make me sick?”
“No.”
Important.
“No. Dad did not give you the medicine.”
“Did he know?”
There was no clean child-size version.
“He knew Aunt Megan had struggled with medicine before, and he did not tell me everything he knew.”
Lucas frowned.
“So he lied?”
“He kept important things from me.”
“Same.”
Sometimes.
I did not correct.
Robert continued seeing Lucas.
At first, daytime.
Not because a court ordered supervision.
Because I was angry and Lucas wanted me nearby.
Then I realized that my anger at Robert was not evidence he was unsafe alone with his son.
I discussed with Dr. Lin.
She said:
“Separate marital trust from parenting safety.”
Again.
Annoying.
Correct.
Robert had never given Lucas unsafe medication.
Never left him with Megan after the incident.
No substance-use issue himself.
No violence.
So overnights resumed.
Slowly.

Because Lucas wanted his father and evidence supported it.
