The silver cup became the clearest physical symbol of the case.
Its surface carried Sylvia’s fingerprints.
Its rim contained the sedative.
Its scratches retained particles from the implant’s coating.
Inside the base, investigators found a hidden removable disk.
Sylvia had used it to measure powder doses without carrying a separate spoon.
The disk contained traces from at least four prescription medications.
She had altered the mixture depending on Aaron’s instructions.
Some mornings, Anna received enough sedative to weaken her.

“No,” Mara said. “Drugging someone is.”

“Aaron stole choices from both of us,” she said. “I will not answer by stealing more.”

The result confirmed that Aaron was not the biological father.

Whether Aaron physically replaced the sample or ordered someone to do it remained under investigation.
Aaron had known there was a serious chance the child was not his.

Anna chose the name Clara.

At the next hearing, Aaron’s attorney requested recognition of presumed legal paternity because the child was conceived during marriage.

The judge denied it.
Aaron’s legal relationship to the child did not override Anna’s medical privacy.
