“Yes.”
“I’m sorry.”
She squeezed his hand.
“Don’t apologize for what they did.”
“I am apologizing for believing distance was the biggest danger.”
Audrey understood.
Deployment had taken him from the house.
But family had turned the house into a battlefield.
Marcus accepted a plea on forgery and attempted fraud.
Tessa cooperated fully and received probation with mandatory counseling.
Gloria fought every charge until the foyer video played at her deposition.
Then even she went quiet.
The civil settlement transferred all legal costs to Gloria and Marcus.
The fake filing was permanently voided.
Audrey’s ownership was reaffirmed.
And the court ordered Gloria to have no contact.
When the order arrived, Audrey placed it in the same wooden box where she had kept her evidence.
