The embryo code LC-WV-2 referred to a laboratory combination involving Emily’s egg and a paternal sample not yet identified. The unknown female material had been added through mitochondrial therapy.
The process was medically possible in limited contexts, but Emily had never consented.
Dr. Cole refused to identify the paternal donor.
He demanded immunity.
Prosecutors refused.
During questioning, Claire placed the courtroom video before him.
“Your niece kicked a pregnant woman after you prepared false psychiatric papers.”
Alan looked away.
“Savannah was never supposed to make contact.”
“Then why did you calculate fetal position?”
“I provided risk parameters.”
“You designed safer violence.”
The phrase silenced him.
Alan admitted Hollow Crown used staged incidents to create medical incapacity, but he claimed he never intended fetal death.
The distinction offered little comfort.
He also confirmed Marcus attended the embryo transfer.
Marcus had been sedated afterward, but not before signing consent.
Emily’s signature was forged using a sample taken from the prenuptial agreement.
“Who selected the paternal donor?”
“Eleanor Vale.”
“Did Laura know?”
“She learned later.”
“Who is it?”
Alan looked through the interview glass toward Thomas.
“The judge.”
Thomas stopped breathing.
Emily stared.
Dr. Cole claimed Thomas’s genetic sample was collected during a courthouse health examination fifteen years earlier and used without consent.
If true, the unborn child carried Emily’s egg and her biological father’s genetic material.
The procedure would be an unimaginable violation.
Thomas lunged toward the door.
Claire stopped him.
Alan smiled.
He wanted emotional chaos.

The claim might be false.
The archive contained a note from Laura warning that Alan used fabricated incest allegations to destroy Whitmore family alliances.
Emily recognized the trap.
“You want me to fear my baby.”
Alan’s smile weakened.

“You want the Covenant board to disqualify both of us as emotionally compromised.”
Alan looked away.
The paternal sample remained unidentified.
He had used the most devastating possible lie because Hollow Crown survived through shame.
The court ordered independent genetic analysis, but Emily retained the right to limit prenatal procedures. Doctors selected a noninvasive blood test.
Results would take several days.
No one would force urgency.
Alan’s files produced another revelation.
Savannah’s mother, Miriam, was alive in a protected residence in Arizona.
Bennett had placed her there under a legal guardianship, claiming she suffered chronic psychosis.
For twenty-six years, he controlled her money, communication, and medical care.
Laura had contacted Miriam but failed to free her.
Savannah requested to see her mother.
The meeting was supervised.
Miriam recognized her immediately.
“You look like him when you’re angry.”
Savannah began crying.
“Why didn’t you come back?”
“I tried.”
Miriam described Bennett’s coercion, Laura’s investigation, and the childhood sessions with Emily.
She also revealed Savannah’s biological father was not Bennett.
Bennett knew.
He raised her because her real father belonged to the Whitmore family.
Thomas watched through the observation window.
He had never met Miriam privately.

Thomas’s father.
Savannah was Thomas’s younger half-sister.

She belonged to the bloodline, but not as Emily’s replacement.
Bennett weaponized the secret.
Savannah sat in shock.
She had assaulted her niece without knowing.
Emily received the news from Claire.
