Dad sued over the secured loan.
Not to invalidate it.
To claim offsets.
He said years of “property management and family services” reduced what he owed me.
Laura laughed when she read it.
Then stopped.
Because lawsuits are real even when theories are weak.
Robert listed:
Childcare.
Hosting holidays.
Business introductions.
Storage of family property.
Support during my early company years.
He tried converting family life into invoices because I had converted one payment into a documented loan.
It was ugly.
It also revealed how he thought.
Everything exchanged.
Everything owed.
I could have escalated.
Instead I offered:
Keep the original loan terms.
No acceleration.
No new support.
No lawsuit from me over ordinary discretionary account spending that had been technically authorized.
Independent accounting.
