Chapter 9 - EMMA’S DRAWINGEmma drew the kitchen.

Four-year-old proportions.
Huge table.
Tiny refrigerator.
Grandma with arms longer than her body.
Two bottles on the counter.
Brown bottle in Diane’s hand.
Then another shape.
A phone.
“Whose phone?” Sarah asked during a follow-up session.
“Daddy’s.”
“Where was Daddy?”
“By the door.”
“Did he use the phone?”
Emma nodded.
“He took a picture.”
My lungs stopped working.
Police had Trevor’s phone pursuant to warrant.
The photograph was not in the normal gallery.
Deleted.
Recovered from temporary storage.

Diane at our kitchen counter.
Two prepared bottles.
Brown glass container beside them.
Why had Trevor taken it?
His explanation changed everything again.
He said he photographed it because he thought Diane was “being ridiculous” and planned to tease her later.
He deleted it after Benjamin died because seeing the bottles made him feel guilty.
Possible.
Cowardly.
Suspicious.
