Chapter 7 - MY INHALERDamian’s destruction of the inhaler generated a criminal investigation.

Not attempted murder.

The internet demanded attempted murder.

The prosecutor did not.

I had asthma.

He saw respiratory distress.

He intentionally destroyed rescue medication and shoved me.

That was serious.

But proving he intended my death was another matter.

The broken inhaler was recovered.

So was the metal canister.

Video preserved.

Witnesses interviewed.

My hospital records documented acute bronchospasm treated by paramedics and emergency physicians.

No intubation.

No ICU.

No permanent lung injury.

Outcome:

Good.

Conduct:

Still dangerous.

Damian’s attorney argued he did not understand the severity of my asthma.

I remembered a ski trip four years earlier when Damian watched me use a rescue inhaler after climbing stairs at altitude.

He had said:

“Still carrying that thing?”

So he knew I used one.

Whether he knew exactly how dangerous destroying it could be was a separate question.

Law did not need exaggeration.
