Evelyn had copied records there before her death.
Peter Sloan had the access key.
Claire entered under police protection after doctors finally allowed a short supervised discharge.
She still needed a wheelchair for long distances.
She hated it.
Then reminded herself she was alive.
That was enough.
The archive contained contracts from thirteen care facilities.
Morgan Clinical Logistics appeared repeatedly.
So did companies connected to Harold Crane.
Billing irregularities.
Products listed but never delivered.
Consulting fees.
Payments to shell companies.
Richard Morgan had discovered an earlier version of the same scheme.
Nathan destroyed documents.

Crane arrived.

“What did you do with it?” Foster asked.
“I put it somewhere nobody would look.”

“Richard’s grave.”

Police returned.
Beneath the bronze plate was a second capsule.
Older.
Inside:
a microcassette.
Bank records.
A handwritten statement from Richard.

Claire refused to listen immediately.
“No.”
Miriam looked at her.
“You don’t want to know?”
“I do.”
Claire looked toward Celeste.
“But Daniel has spent years making everyone react before they understand. We do this correctly.”
Evidence first.
Chain of custody.
Authentication.
Then truth.
The prosecutor used Daniel’s admissions and digital records to file major charges connected to Claire’s poisoning and fraud conspiracy.
Nathan accepted a cooperation agreement.
Margaret Vale was charged in connection with estate fraud and conspiracy.
Celeste faced consequences for evidence concealment and her role in the fabricated incapacity narrative, though her later cooperation was substantial.
Harold Crane disappeared before police reached his Savannah home.
His car was found near the airport.

No Crane.
Daniel learned about the disappearance during a detention hearing.
His face changed.
Foster noticed.
“You’re afraid he’ll leave you holding everything.”

“He already did.”
Claire attended remotely.
Daniel turned toward the courtroom camera.
“Claire.”
She did not answer.
“I never wanted you dead.”
Claire’s expression remained still.
“You decided how sick I was allowed to become.”
He flinched.
“You don’t get credit because your plan had a preferred stopping point.”
Daniel looked down.
Claire continued:
“And you used Noah as the reason.”
“I was going to lose him.”
“You were going to lose control.”
Daniel had no answer.
Judge Sloan denied bond.
As officers led him away, Daniel looked back.
“Crane knows about the moon.”
Claire froze.
“What?”
Officers stopped him.
Daniel looked toward Detective Foster.
“He knew Celeste installed cameras.”
Celeste stared.
“How?”
Daniel shook his head.
“He had another feed.”
Claire felt cold.
Another camera?
Another recording?
Daniel continued:
“The wooden moon wasn’t the only thing watching us.”
Foster stepped forward.
“What else?”
Daniel smiled without humor.
“Ask Celeste who gave her the craftsman’s name.”
Celeste’s face went white.
She had forgotten.
The specialist who made the wooden moon had been recommended by Harold Crane.
