Chapter 9 - THE WIFE WHO NEVER DIEDRebecca’s feed ended after fourteen seconds.

Police traced the transmission through the stadium server, but its source had bounced between multiple locations.
Daniel replayed her face.
There was a pale scar near her eyebrow that did not exist before the crash. Her voice was weaker, but unmistakable.
Emily watched the recording after her doctor and child advocate agreed she could handle it.
“Mom is alive?”
“It appears so.”
“Did you know?”
“No.”
“Did Aunt Sarah?”
“We don’t know yet.”
Emily stared at the screen.
“She didn’t say my name.”
Daniel had noticed too.
Rebecca warned him not to bring Emily to Charles, but she did not speak directly to her daughter.
The recording might have been coerced.
Edited.
Or created by someone who knew Rebecca’s appearance but not her emotional habits.
Sarah denied arranging the cabin abduction.
“I asked Michael to come.”
Daniel looked at her.
“That is arranging it.”
“I wanted him recorded taking the fake memory card.”
“You brought Mason.”
“He refused to stay behind.”
“He was eight. You were the adult.”
Sarah admitted she had planned the confrontation.
Michael did not unexpectedly find her.
She summoned him.
She also arranged the second vehicle, intending to follow him after he took the false card.
When Charles’s people arrived, the plan collapsed.
Mason was placed in danger because Sarah wanted a trail leading to the higher conspiracy.
Again, she treated a child’s presence as an acceptable risk.
“Did you know Rebecca was alive?” Daniel asked.
“I suspected.”
“Since when?”
“Two years.”
Sarah received anonymous messages containing details only Rebecca should know. The sender guided her toward the settlement ledger and warned her that Charles monitored Michael.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“The sender said you were compromised.”
“By whom?”
“Your wife.”
Daniel stared.
The messages claimed Rebecca married him as part of Charles’s plan, then changed sides only after discovering Emily would become the trust’s biometric heir.
Sarah never knew whether Rebecca loved Daniel or used him.
She withheld the possibility of survival because she feared Rebecca would return and take the evidence.
“You chose control too,” Daniel said.
“Yes.”
The word came softly.
At the stadium, investigators recovered a blood sample from the chair visible in Rebecca’s feed. DNA testing matched hair preserved from her belongings.
She had physically been there within the previous week.
Rebecca was alive.
The crash records were reopened.
Her car had burned after leaving the road. The body inside was identified through jewelry, dental charts supplied by a private family dentist, and Charles’s testimony before his staged death.
No independent DNA test had been performed.
Security footage from a nearby gas station showed Rebecca exiting the car twenty minutes before the crash. She entered a black medical van.
Michael’s company owned the van.
Detective Cole confronted him.
“You helped fake her death.”
Michael looked toward Daniel.
“She asked me to.”
Rebecca discovered Charles planned to kill her. Michael offered to move her into a private protective facility if she surrendered the settlement ledger.
She agreed.
Then Charles took control of the facility.
“I thought she died later,” Michael said.
“You never checked?” Daniel demanded.
“Father sent photographs.”
“You trusted the man you knew staged his own death?”
“I wanted the problem finished.”
The admission stripped away his final excuse.
Michael had not known Rebecca survived for four years.
He had simply accepted her reported death because it protected him.
Then Tyler’s phone received a new video through an inactive cloud account.
Rebecca appeared again.
This time, she addressed Emily.
“Your hand was never supposed to be injured.”
Emily leaned closer.
Rebecca continued:
“Tyler was supposed to stop you before you reached the hatch.”
Daniel turned toward Michael.
“Then who changed the order?”
The video shifted.
Sarah stood beside Rebecca in the gray room.
She was not restrained.
May you like
She was holding the camera.
👉 Sarah had met Rebecca before the pool party, proving the two women concealed the survival together.
