“She watched me?” Amy asked.

Samuel looked toward Laura.

Laura’s face changed.
She remembered contacting a woman using a protected number shortly before her supposed death. The caller claimed to be Lydia and promised safe housing.
Instead, Laura entered sixteen years of confinement.
“I thought Vale intercepted us,” Laura whispered.
“Lydia delivered you to him.”
The truth remained unverified, but Samuel’s records supported it.

Someone using Lydia Bennett’s credential had opened Frederick’s medical records while he lay in the hospital.
They had monitored his fever, medication levels, and recovery.
The Host had allowed Teresa’s plan to proceed but prevented the antihistamine dose from becoming fatal by altering Betsy’s instructions.

Teresa failed to secure signature before emergency call.

Connor looked toward the crib.
“What does that mean?”
The hospital monitor switched from Frederick’s vital signs to a live camera feed.
A woman wearing Amy’s face stood inside the mansion kitchen.
