Jonathan approved replacing support bolts with visibly defective replicas after the ceremony. He wanted regulators to discover the parts before anyone was injured.
The plan was unlawful sabotage.
Its supposed safety depended upon secrecy, timing and perfect evacuation.
Thomas moved the trigger forward.
He believed the live collapse would expose illegal construction contracts more decisively than a later inspection.
He calculated the west section would be empty after Adrian received the warning.
Adrian moved photographers and executives.
He left Natalie.
Thomas knew Natalie would deliver the speech from the platform.
“He was supposed to move her,” Thomas said.
“You entrusted her safety to a man you were trying to expose as corrupt,” the prosecutor answered.
“Yes.”
“Why?”
“Adrian wanted her alive then.”
Thomas had reduced safety to another person’s current financial interest.
Celeste testified against her father.
“You trained me to infiltrate Adrian after the collapse.”
“I wanted justice for our company.”
“You wanted your name restored.”
“Yes.”
“You also wanted the Ward trust.”
“To preserve the patents.”
“You never asked Claire or me.”
“No.”
Thomas was convicted of aggravated sabotage, reckless infliction of serious injury, conspiracy, obstruction and endangering workers.
He was acquitted of attempted murder. Evidence showed he expected evacuation, however recklessly.
His cooperation exposing defense sales reduced financial penalties.
Natalie’s permanent injuries increased the sentence.
Thomas received a long prison term later modified to secure medical custody because of his injuries from Evelyn’s gunshot.
Jonathan’s case contained more concealment.
He staged his death.
Maintained founder keys.
Hid Mara and Natalia.
Allowed Sophie’s paternity to remain secret.
Authorized the controlled sabotage.
Withheld national-security evidence.
Surveilled every daughter while presenting family authority as protection.
Jonathan argued he never approved the early trigger.
The prosecution agreed.
Then showed how his illegal plan created the platform Thomas altered.
Jonathan was convicted of conspiracy, obstruction, unlawful surveillance, identity concealment, corporate fraud and reckless endangerment.
He received a shorter sentence than Thomas on the scaffold counts but additional punishment for founder-system abuses.
His age, cancer history and cooperation led to limited custody followed by home confinement under an independent medical guardian.
No daughter controlled his treatment.
Mara addressed him at sentencing.
“You paid my mother, hid my birth and later watched me because acknowledgment threatened the company.”
“Yes.”
“Natalie buried you.”
“Yes.”
“Sophie’s father raised your child.”
“Yes.”
“Natalia grew inside your clinic.”
“Yes.”
“Do you still believe the company was protected?”
Jonathan looked toward the floor.
“No.”
Natalie provided a written statement.
“My father taught me Glass Fortress protected us because everyone could see through it. He spent his life placing one-way glass between himself and the people who needed truth.”
Jonathan lost all founder authority.
The Archer patriarch’s continuity charter was revoked.
Natalie, Mara and Sophie retained ordinary claims against his estate, not control over strangers or institutions.
Dana remained his legally adopted daughter historically but rejected inheritance beyond one personal letter and a disclosed education fund already used.
Jonathan and Thomas never reconciled.
Helen declined to reunite romantically with Thomas. She acknowledged caring for him while refusing to resume a marriage built around decades of staged death.
Jonathan later asked Natalie to visit during home confinement.
She waited a year.
When she came, she used a wheelchair and could stand briefly with braces.
He began crying.
“I did not know whether you would walk.”
“You knew I might fall.”
“Yes.”
“Those are different sentences.”
“Yes.”
Their relationship continued through limited visits. No complete forgiveness occurred before his death.
He left no hidden protocol.
The final founder key was destroyed after evidence preservation.
Then Martin Archer’s disciplinary file revealed Jonathan had instructed him to protect Natalie from Glass Fortress itself.
