Chapter 7 - The Founder’s Hidden ProtocolMartin opened a restricted section of the Archer Family Trust.

He had resisted showing it because Natalie’s father, Jonathan Archer, ordered that it remain sealed unless the company faced simultaneous medical, legal, and security attacks.

All three conditions were now active.

The protocol was called Glass Fortress.

Jonathan had anticipated that a future executive might be incapacitated while rivals used forged documents to seize control.

The trust granted the injured executive emergency authority through three independent physical signals.

Voice.

Retinal focus.

Dental pressure.

Natalie’s tooth switch was not merely a security alarm.

It was one-third of a corporate command system.

“You knew?” she asked Martin.

“I knew the trust contained emergency authentication. I did not know the hospital installed the dental component.”

“Father designed this before he died?”

“After someone attempted to poison him during a board retreat.”

Natalie stared.

Jonathan’s death four years earlier had been attributed to pancreatic cancer.

Martin admitted the illness was real, but his final decline was accelerated by tampered medication.

Jonathan believed someone on the board wanted him mentally compromised before a major defense contract vote.

He suspected Evelyn Shaw.

He never proved it.

Before his death, he created Glass Fortress and named Natalie sole emergency controller.

No spouse.

No lawyer.

No board.

Only her.

Martin had spent years trying to preserve the protocol while hiding it from Adrian.

Yet he had also used Natalie’s hospital trap without permission.

“You protected my authority while ignoring my autonomy,” she said.

Martin lowered his eyes.

“Yes.”

Natalie activated the voice portion.

“Glass Fortress, confirm Natalie Archer.”

The system replied through the hospital speakers.

“Voice match accepted.”

Dana adjusted a camera toward her eyes.

A target appeared on the evidence screen. Natalie focused on three symbols in sequence.

“Retinal intent accepted.”

She clenched the tooth switch.

“Physical confirmation accepted.”

Across Archer Dynamics, every executive account froze.

The emergency board meeting stopped.

The defense-division sale was suspended.

All patents transferred temporarily into a federal escrow established by Jonathan years earlier.

Evelyn could no longer sell them.

Thomas could no longer release them.

Marcus could no longer seize them.

The company’s power returned to the woman everyone believed immobilized.

Natalie looked at Adrian.

His face showed a new kind of fear.

He had tried to kill her three days before Glass Fortress would have become inaccessible under the forged incapacity resolution.

Someone had timed the murder attempt precisely.

“Who told you about the thirty-day deadline?” she asked.

“My attorney.”

“Who told him?”

Adrian remained silent.

Martin opened Adrian’s phone records.

The attorney had received confidential trust excerpts from Jonathan Archer’s former executive assistant.

A woman named Lydia Grant.

Lydia disappeared after Jonathan’s funeral.

Her salary had continued through a consulting company controlled by Evelyn.

Dana traced Lydia’s current location.

She was inside the hospital.

A housekeeping badge had opened the secured floor multiple times during Natalie’s treatment.

The hidden ceiling camera captured Lydia replacing supplies in the medication cabinet two hours before Adrian arrived.

She placed the potassium chloride syringe behind a sealed panel.

Helen later moved it into Adrian’s car.

Lydia had prepared both routes.

If Helen refused, Adrian would still find the weapon.

Security searched the maintenance rooms.

Lydia was gone.

Her badge appeared inside an empty laundry cart.

The cart had traveled to the hospital basement.

Glass Fortress displayed a warning.

Someone was attempting to access Jonathan Archer’s federal escrow through the building’s underground data line.

The hospital had once housed Archer Dynamics’ first research laboratory. A fiber connection remained beneath the foundation.

Lydia knew it.

Natalie’s father had employed her for twenty-six years.

“Why would she help Evelyn?” Natalie asked.

Martin looked troubled.

“Jonathan dismissed Lydia one week before his death.”

“For what?”

“He discovered she had altered family medical files.”

“Whose?”

“Yours.”

Natalie’s injuries monitor accelerated.

Martin revealed that Natalie had suffered a serious childhood illness at age seven. She remembered months of treatment but little else.

Jonathan’s private file indicated Lydia changed the genetic records from that period.

Natalie’s official blood type, tissue profile, and family markers might be false.

The forged medical identity could allow another person to authenticate as her.

Glass Fortress had accepted Natalie’s current voice, eyes, and tooth switch.

But the federal escrow still relied on childhood genetic data.

Someone in the basement possessed that profile.

The escrow system displayed a second successful identity match.

NATALIE ARCHER—BIOLOGICAL AUTHENTICATION ACCEPTED.

Natalie stared.

She was still in the hospital bed.

Another person had just been recognized as her genetically.

A basement camera activated.

Lydia Grant stood beside a woman in her early thirties.

The woman had Natalie’s dark hair, eyes, and facial structure.

Not identical.

Close enough to be a sister.

Lydia looked into the camera.

“Your father built Glass Fortress for the daughter he raised.”

She placed the woman’s hand on the genetic scanner.

“But Archer Dynamics belongs to the daughter he erased.”

👉 Glass Fortress restored Natalie’s authority, but a hidden woman with matching family genetics authenticated as Jonathan Archer’s forgotten daughter.
