Senator’s Wife Slaps Pregnant Woman at Her Mother’s Funeral Before a Sealed DNA Test Reveals She Is His Sister.
The slap landed beside the open grave.
Elena Cross’s face turned sharply from the force, and a thin line of blood appeared at the corner of her lower lip.
For one frozen second, the entire private cemetery outside Washington, D.C., stopped breathing.
Her mother’s polished wooden coffin rested behind her, covered in white funeral flowers. Mourners in black stood along the grass. Photographers lowered their cameras only long enough to lift them again.
Victoria Hale stood in front of Elena in a white fur coat, pearls trembling against her throat.

Then Margaret Shaw, her mother’s estate attorney, pushed through the stunned mourners carrying a locked black evidence case.
She stopped beside Elena, opened the case just enough to reveal a sealed laboratory packet, and faced Adrian and Victoria.
“The DNA report confirms Elena is Adrian Hale’s sister.”
Adrian’s mouth opened.
Nothing came out.
Victoria’s face collapsed into horror.
