Elena had contacted Agent Marcus Reed three weeks earlier.
Not because she expected federal agents to enter her dining room.

She noticed it late one night when Daniel left the documents on the kitchen island and went to take a call with Gloria.
The language looked professional.
Too professional.
But one paragraph referred to an authorization Elena had never signed.

“He lives with me.”
“Then document everything safely.”

So when Elena refused to sign, he swept his arm across the table.
