Chapter 22 - Jason says no without explaining
The last major test of Jason’s boundary came from St. Catherine Academy.
Margaret had already paid a nonrefundable application deposit?
No application had been submitted. Good.
Instead the school invited her to an open house because she had made an inquiry months earlier.
She forwarded it to Jason.
Still worth considering. I’ll pay.
Jason replied:
No. Emma is staying at her current school.
Margaret:
You don’t have to ask Laura now. You have joint authority.
Jason stared at that message for twenty minutes before replying.
Then:
Joint authority means we decide together. It does not mean I can finally overrule her.
There.
Margaret:
You are making a mistake.
Jason:
Maybe. Still no.
No explanation.
No essay.
No childhood defense.
Just no.
That mattered because Jason used to believe boundaries were only valid if Margaret agreed with the reasoning.
Now:
No.
Then he sent me screenshots only because school decision involved both of us.
Not to show off.
I said:
“Thanks.”
That was all.
Then we jointly informed school:
No transfer.
No discussion with third parties absent consent.
