Chapter 13 - The school authorization
My genuine signature source was the school emergency form.
I had signed it casually.
Millicent had been allowed to:
Pick Silas up.
Authorize urgent medical care if I was unreachable.
Communicate about same-day transportation.
Nothing more.
The form explicitly said:
This authorization does not confer general guardianship or educational placement authority.
I had never read that line closely.
Millicent apparently had.
She knew the limits.
Why copy from it?
She later said:
“I needed the intake process to continue long enough for you to see he was safe.”
That logic stunned me.
“You planned to prove I was wrong after he was admitted.”
“Yes.”
“What if I came and took him out?”
“I hoped you would speak to clinicians first.”
There.
She did not plan to disappear with him.
She planned to create a fait accompli.
Get him through the door.
Let professionals see him.
Then make me look unreasonable if I removed him.
It was control through institutional momentum.
Much more grounded than a secret kidnapping.
