Chapter 24 - Keira stays a witness
Keira Bolton did not become my girlfriend.
Apparently every relative wanted that story.
My aunt actually said:
“She’s pretty.”
I answered:
“She witnessed child mistreatment, Helen.”
“So?”
“So maybe let the woman live.”
Keira had a partner anyway.
A woman named Natalie.
They lived in the next town.
We saw them once at a farmer’s market.
Silas pointed.
“Bench lady!”
Keira laughed.
“Still my official name?”
“Yes.”
He showed her Astro.
“Grandma fixed him.”
Keira looked at me before reacting.
Good instinct.
Then:
“That’s a very crooked arm.”
Silas laughed.
“She’s bad at glue.”
“Most adults are.”
They spoke for two minutes.
Then Keira and Natalie walked away.
No dramatic witness joining the family.
