Chapter 23 - The shed comes down

Drusilla wanted to destroy the shed immediately after criminal case.
Her lawyer told her not until evidence release.
Months later, after appeals deadlines and civil preservation requirements were satisfied, the contents were released.
She called me.
Through approved channel.
“Can I tear it down?”
I almost said:
Burn it.
Instead:
“Yes.”
Property hers.
She hired a contractor.
No family ceremony.
I did not bring Elowen.
No symbolic smashing.
Just demolition permit and dumpster.
The camera removed.
Lock discarded.
Garden tools moved to garage.
Then Drusilla planted grass over foundation? Too neat. The slab remained for a while.
Fine.
Then her business.
Closed.
No new sessions.
She refunded prepaid unused fees:
$3,840 total.
No bankruptcy.
Her retirement remained.
She picked up part-time bookkeeping for a friend’s boutique later? Could be, but not necessary.
No child-facing work during probation.
Then licensing fine:
$4,500.
Paid.
No giant financial ruin.
Then Celia Voss.
She updated her client procedures:
No child video accepted without documented consent.
No nonparent care-placement planning without parent/court participation where minor involved.
Why?
She had not caused Drusilla’s conduct.
But process exposed weak boundaries.
Institutional learning.
Then Harold.
He stopped making “family care budgets” without legal framework.
May you like
Good.
No grand villain network.
