Chapter 24 - My mother’s house

After three therapeutic months, Dr. Hollis recommended a ninety-minute supervised visit at Drusilla’s house.
I hated the idea.
Elowen wanted to see garden.
The shed was gone.
I inspected first.
No locked isolation area.
No cameras except doorbell/security exterior.
No behavior notebook.
Hose?
Coiled by garage.
I asked Drusilla to put it away during visit.
She did.
No argument.
Then visit.
I stayed in house but not same room.
Elowen and Drusilla baked muffins.
One spilled batter.
I heard Drusilla say:
“That’s okay.”
I almost cried from the ordinary sentence.
Then Elowen became frustrated because muffin liner tore.
Drusilla started:
“Don’t—”
Stopped.
Then:
“Do you want help?”
“Yes.”
No regulation experiment.
No waiting for tears.
No camera.
Then garden.
Elowen asked:
“Where shed?”
Drusilla pointed to slab.
“Gone.”
“Forever?”
“Yes.”
“Good.”
They planted basil.
At end, Drusilla walked Elowen to me.
No extension request.
