The Mitchell family had consequences unrelated to my desires.
George remained head of Mitchell Development.
The failed Carter deal hurt his reputation inside the company but did not destroy it.
No fraud finding.
No criminal corporate prosecution.
The business continued.
Patricia resigned from two charity-event committees after the party video spread.
Not from life.
Not from wealth.
She said publicly she wanted to “reduce public-facing responsibilities.”
Fine.
Vanessa left Mitchell Development six months after the engagement ended.
She moved to Atlanta.
Worked for another development company.
People online claimed her career was over.
It was not.
She faced consequences.
Then kept living.
That is what usually happens.
Caleb finished his associate degree.
Later transferred into hospitality management.
He emailed me once:
You probably don’t remember me.
I replied:
I remember the towel.
He wrote:
I remember your son kneeling in the mud.
Neither of us turned it into destiny.
He had helped.
