Julian placed the capsule inside his jacket and opened the Tesla’s driver door.
The car recognized Maya’s digital key.
She stared at the screen.
“I never gave him access.”
Ethan answered quietly.
“Our family account shares emergency vehicle permissions.”
“Why?”
“My father said it was safer.”
Every convenience created by the Vale family had become another form of control.
Julian entered the car.
Before he could start it, officers surrounded him.
He raised both hands.
The capsule remained inside his pocket.
When Lena opened it upstairs, she found a memory card no larger than a fingernail.
Evelyn turned the cane over in her hands.

Evelyn stared.

If Julian recovered the key, he would receive ten percent of the company.
Ethan looked at his brother with disgust.
“You believed that?”
Julian looked back.
“You believed Dad introduced you to Maya because he cared about your happiness.”
The brothers stood on opposite sides of the same realization.
Richard had assigned each of them a role.
