Chapter 13 - THE FAMILY PROTOCOLThe estate locked down.

Steel shutters covered the windows. Doors sealed. Hidden projectors illuminated the ballroom walls with family records, biometric maps, and financial accounts.

Marcus released Victoria only after armed security surrounded the room.

“The restitution account was never meant to return money,” he said. “It was meant to identify every surviving claimant.”

By gathering the Vale bloodline, the system verified descendants, hidden heirs, and people tied to stolen guardianships.

Marcus planned to use the data to challenge every restitution payment and preserve the family empire through legal appeals.

Thomas wanted public exposure.

Caroline wanted controlled redistribution.

Elena wanted survivor-led release.

Harrison wanted the money transferred before anyone could stop it.

Victoria wanted Marcus removed.

Each adult wanted the same archive for a different future.

The children remained at the center.

Sarah looked toward Emily.

“You do not touch any screen.”

Marcus laughed.

“The system does not require consent. Presence is enough.”

Chloe and Lily were still miles apart, but their remote monitors connected through the doll network.

Emily stood inside the ballroom.

The three keys activated.

A transfer menu appeared.

FAMILY RETENTION

PUBLIC DISCLOSURE

PRIVATE RESTITUTION

IDENTITY RESTORATION

The fourth option had never appeared in the records.

Identity restoration would return funds gradually while allowing each hidden person to choose whether to reclaim a real name, remain protected, or authorize evidence release.

It was the only option that did not force a single outcome upon every victim.

Elena had built it secretly.

Activation required the consent of all three girls when they became adults.

Marcus had gathered them too early.

The system began a temporary guardianship vote instead.

The adults could choose on their behalf.

Marcus controlled Emily’s legal identity.

Victoria controlled the Vale family trust.

Harrison’s old forms gave him authority over Chloe and Lily.

Sarah had almost no recognized power because Vale House records declared her medically unstable on the night of the birth.

Harrison stepped into the ballroom through the side entrance.

Police had followed him but remained trapped outside the shutters.

Sarah stared.

“You came to use the signatures.”

“I came to cancel them.”

He connected the USB to the control terminal.

The files inside contained his signed confession.

He admitted accepting Thomas’s assignment, lying to Sarah, signing the infant transfers, stealing the restitution money, and using Victoria’s access.

By confessing to coercion and fraud, he invalidated his own guardianship authority.

The system shifted control of Chloe and Lily to Sarah.

Marcus looked furious.

“You will go to prison.”

Harrison nodded.

“I know.”

The action did not erase what he had done.

But it removed one weapon from the account.

Victoria revoked Marcus’s founder authority using evidence from the memorial archive.

Caroline released Emily’s false identity.

For the first time, all three children appeared without institutional guardians.

The system asked Sarah to choose a temporary protection state until the girls reached adulthood.

Marcus raised his weapon.

Before he could aim, Victoria struck his wrist. The gun slid across the floor.

Security moved.

Police explosives breached the side entrance.

Chaos erupted.

Caroline grabbed Emily.

Elena pulled Chloe’s doll chip from the terminal.

Harrison shielded Sarah as glass fell from the upper windows.

Lena entered with federal agents.

No final arrests were completed. Marcus’s attorneys challenged the raid even while he was restrained. Caroline disappeared through a concealed passage with Emily. Thomas remained missing from custody. The account froze before Sarah could select a protection state.

Then every screen displayed the same message:

PRIMARY BLOODLINE INCOMPLETE.

Victoria stared.

“All three girls were verified.”

Harrison looked toward Sarah.

“The message does not mean the children.”

A hidden family tree opened.

Marcus Vale had another living daughter.

The name was concealed.

The biometric status showed she had entered the estate six minutes earlier.
