Chapter 5 - ROSE HOUSERose House stood behind a twelve-foot wall at the end of an unmarked road in Chatsworth.

Public property records described it as a private rehabilitation residence owned by a dissolved nonprofit. Satellite images showed a swimming pool and landscaped gardens.
From the ground, it looked abandoned.
Lena obtained a warrant through a judge outside Los Angeles County. She trusted only four officers with the location.
Sarah was ordered to remain at the protected facility with Chloe.
She refused until Lena promised a live video connection.
At 1:18 a.m., police cut the gate and entered.
The main house contained empty bedrooms, a commercial kitchen, and security cameras still warm from recent use. No patients appeared on the upper floors.
Victoria directed them toward a wine cellar beneath the dining room.
Behind one rack, officers found a reinforced door.
The ceramic button from the doll opened it.
Sarah watched the body-camera feed.
A concrete staircase descended into a narrow medical corridor. Several doors stood open.
One room contained a chair bolted to the floor.
Another held Harrison’s jacket.
Blood marked the cuff, but the amount was small.
A third room was filled with monitors displaying live footage from different locations.
Sarah’s apartment.
Chloe’s preschool.
Harrison’s former office.
Victoria’s bedroom.
Thomas had been watching everyone.
An officer opened the final door.
A man lay on a medical bed beneath a gray blanket.
Sarah stopped breathing.
He was older than the driver’s-license photograph. His hair had turned almost entirely white, and a scar crossed the side of his neck.
Thomas Miller opened his eyes.
“Sarah?”
Her knees nearly failed.
He looked directly into the officer’s body camera.
“My little girl.”
Sarah felt no comfort.
“You sent men to my apartment.”
Thomas closed his eyes.
“I sent them for the USB.”
“They set the building on fire.”
“That was not the order.”
“You watched Chloe every day.”
“I was keeping her safe.”
“From whom?”
“Marcus.”
Victoria stood beside Lena at Rose House.
“My father did not send the officers.”
Thomas looked toward her.
“You still believe he tells you everything?”
“Where is Harrison?”
Thomas’s face tightened.
“Gone.”
“Who moved him?”
“The woman he was trying to protect.”
Sarah leaned toward the monitor.
“Who?”
Thomas answered quietly.
“Your mother.”
Sarah stared at him.
“My mother died eighteen years ago.”
“No.”
Another false death.
Thomas said Elena Miller discovered the identity program before the warehouse fire. Marcus offered both parents new lives if they surrendered evidence linking Vale House to stolen guardianship settlements.
Thomas accepted.
Elena did not.
“She took one child and disappeared,” he said.
Sarah’s breath caught.
“One child?”
At 6:14 on the night Chloe was born, Elena entered the hospital under a false nursing identity.
Sarah had delivered twin girls.
The first infant, Chloe, remained with her.
The second was removed before Sarah regained consciousness.
Thomas claimed Elena took the baby to protect her from Marcus.
“Why would my mother steal my daughter?”
“She believed you were already under Harrison’s control.”
Sarah looked toward Victoria.
“Did Harrison know?”
Thomas’s silence confirmed it.
“He knew I had twins?”
“He knew after the delivery.”
“And stayed with me while I mourned a pregnancy doctors said had produced one child?”
“He was told Infant B died during transfer.”
“Did he believe that?”
“Not for long.”
Thomas revealed that Harrison spent years searching secretly. His relationship with Victoria began partly because he believed Marcus knew where the second girl was hidden.
Victoria looked shaken.
“My father never mentioned a living child.”
Thomas laughed weakly.
“Your father collects children the way other men collect signatures.”
Lena ordered the medical team to move Thomas into custody.
Before they could lift him, every monitor in the basement changed.
Harrison appeared live on-screen.
He sat inside a moving vehicle.
A woman drove beside him, her face hidden by darkness.
“Sarah,” he said, “do not believe your father.”
Thomas tried to rise.
Harrison continued.
“He did not lose your second daughter.”
May you like
“He sold her.”
👉 Thomas returned from the dead with a story of protection, but Harrison accused him of selling Sarah’s newborn child to Vale House.
