A folder titled:
CAPACITY.
Inside:
Draft declaration for Cynthia.
I have observed Megan Parker become increasingly erratic, impulsive, and unable to manage complex financial matters.
Another from Ivan:
My wife’s behavior raises concerns that she may dissipate assets necessary for household stability.
Another draft:
Limited financial power of attorney.
Not signed.
The plan began to appear.
If I refused collateral?
Argue incapacity?
Maybe.
Natalie cautioned:
“Drafts are not actions.”
Right.
But then an email between Ivan and Cynthia:
CYNTHIA:
If she melts down Saturday, the banker will understand why you need control.
IVAN:
I need her signature, not a diagnosis.
CYNTHIA:
One may get you the other.
I stared.
“What does that mean?”
Natalie said:
May you like
“We don’t speculate beyond evidence.”
I hated competent people.
