Chapter 12 - Cordelia’s counterstory Cordelia sent a four-page email to relatives.

Not publicly.
Family only.
Subject:
Regarding the wedding incident.
She described herself as trying to solve an accessibility problem.
She described me as:
“physically aggressive.”
“habitually defensive about Bram.”
“determined to interpret ordinary logistical decisions as discrimination.”
The first was partly true.
I had kicked her.
The second?
Probably.
Parents of disabled children become defensive because sometimes the world gives us things to defend against.
The third angered me most.
Then Cordelia attached photographs of previous family events where Bram appeared prominently.
Proof, she argued, that she had never wanted him hidden.
The photographs were real.
One showed her kissing his forehead.
Another showed Bram beside her birthday cake.
People are not cartoons.
Cordelia loved him.
