Chapter 5 - The photographer Wedding photographer Lucas Webb called Alaric the next day.

Helena had given him permission.
Lucas sounded nervous.
“I want to clarify something before anybody thinks my team requested Bram be moved.”
Alaric put the call on speaker.
Lucas said Cordelia approached him during setup.
“What did she say?”
“She asked about formal portrait composition.”
Normal.
Then:
“She asked whether mobility equipment could be photographed separately.”
I closed my eyes.
Lucas continued quickly.
“I told her we photograph people as they are.”
Alaric said:
“Exact words, please.”
Lucas took a breath.
“She asked if the chair could be removed for the standing family portrait.”
“What did you say?”
“That Bram uses it.”
“Yes.”
“I said we could arrange seated groupings, use levels, bring family around him, whatever looked natural.”
“And she?”
“She said, ‘I don’t want the medical part to become the focal point.’”
The room became silent.
Medical part.
Bram.
Six years old.
Reduced to a visual problem.
Lucas then said something important.
“I never told her the wheelchair would ruin the photos.”
I believed him.
The preview photographs Helena later received supported it.
Bram appeared in several ceremony pictures.
