Chapter 6
Daniela was the one who broke Emiliano.
Not Martina’s tears.
Not Patricia’s command.
Daniela’s sentence.
Dad never believes us.
The words did not sound angry.
They sounded learned.
That was worse.
A child only says never after testing hope more than once.
Emiliano remembered the attempts now.
Daniela at breakfast saying Patricia was different when he traveled.
Martina asking if housekeepers could be family.
A drawing where Patricia had no face.
Daniela refusing to leave Rosa’s side during a garden party.
He had answered with tired father phrases.
“Give Patricia a chance.”
“She is trying.”
“Don’t be rude.”
“I need everyone to get along.”
Every sentence had placed the burden on the girls.
Not the adult.
He gripped the console until his knuckles whitened.
David watched him carefully.
“Sir.”
Emiliano’s voice was low.
“How many recordings?”
“Enough.”

Another hidden layer.
Emiliano looked at the monitor wall.
Rosa remained between Patricia and the girls.
The young housekeeper looked calm, but Emiliano saw the tension in her hands.
She was afraid.
Of course she was.
She worked in his house. Patricia could have fired her, smeared her, destroyed her references, accused her of manipulating the children.
And still Rosa stood there.
Doing the thing Emiliano should have done first.
He swallowed hard.
“Preserve everything.”
David nodded.
“Already duplicating.”
“Not enough.”
Emiliano turned fully toward him.
“Off-site backup. Legal hold. Every camera. Every door log. Every staff schedule. Every deleted file.”
David reached for the console.
“Yes, sir.”
On the screen, Patricia still believed she was alone.
