He wore a baseball cap and carried a large duffel bag.
His attorney claimed the video could have been misidentified.
Elena obtained the original footage.
Facial analysis confirmed Brandon.
The storage unit contained Alicia’s phone, passport, and a typed confession.
It stated that she gave Nancy loose magnets as punishment for refusing lunch.
The confession bore Alicia’s signature.
Her phone contained a video of her reading the statement aloud.
Samantha watched the clip once.
Alicia’s eyes remained fixed slightly above the camera. Her voice sounded flat. A bruise marked her jaw.
She had been forced.
The audio included a faint mechanical hum.
Dr. Hart recognized it.
BrightForge’s prototype room used a specialized ventilation system because magnetic coatings produced chemical fumes.
The confession had been recorded at company headquarters.
Alicia might still be inside the building.
Police searched every public floor.

The entrance required Brandon’s biometric code.
He refused to provide it.

Brandon called her from the hospital parking garage.
Samantha answered Evelyn’s phone under Elena’s supervision.
“What did you give them?” he demanded.
“The laboratory code.”
“You stupid old woman.”

“You put my name on the spreadsheet.”
“I protected the company.”
“You planned to make me responsible.”
“You were responsible.”
“You told me they were safe.”
“I told you what you needed to hear.”
Evelyn began crying.
Brandon continued.
“If Alicia talks, Nancy loses everything.”
Samantha spoke.
“No. You do.”

Then Brandon laughed.
“You think this is about the trust?”
“What else?”
“Ask Leonard why he bought BrightForge shares before the company existed.”
Samantha’s father had died before BrightForge’s public launch.
She assumed he purchased shares through an early investment fund.
Brandon implied something darker.
Police opened the underground laboratory.
Alicia was found alive inside a locked medical observation room. She had a head injury and signs of sedation but recognized Elena immediately.
Her first words were:
“Check the children’s trial list.”
The laboratory server contained twelve names.
Nancy was not the first child exposed to disguised magnets.
She was the only one connected directly to Brandon.
Other children came from families enrolled in BrightForge-sponsored educational programs. Their injuries had been documented as accidental toy ingestion.
The company quietly paid settlements.
Alicia discovered the list while organizing Brandon’s files. She threatened to tell Samantha.
Brandon confined her and created the forced confession.
One child on the list had died.
His name was Caleb Hart.
Dr. Miles Hart stared at the screen.
Caleb was his nephew.
