Chapter 8 - THE CONSERVATORSHIP
Marlene obtained temporary conservatorship three weeks after Anna’s hospitalization.
The court relied on medical incapacity.
That part was real.
The deception concerned me.
She said:
Spouse absent.
Marriage effectively ended.
History of controlling behavior.
Current contact harmful to patient.
The court appointed an independent attorney for Anna.
Good.
But Anna’s cognitive condition remained severe.
She could not meaningfully contest at first.
Six months later, Anna improved.
The conservatorship should have narrowed.
Instead Marlene filed reports saying Anna remained “emotionally fixated on returning to unsafe marital environment.”
Supporting therapist letters existed.
Were they forged?
No.
The therapists had heard Anna describe wanting to find me.
Marlene told them I had threatened to take Lily away permanently.
That shaped interpretation.
