Chapter 23 - The Evidence UploadThe cliff hollow broke apart.

Ava slid toward the edge.

The Coast Guard rescuer threw himself forward.

His gloved hand caught the emergency harness across her chest.

The cable tightened above him.

For one terrifying second, both of them hung against the collapsing cliff.

Stone and dirt poured into the ocean.

The rescuer secured a second strap around Ava’s body.

“I have you!”

Ava pressed one hand over her abdomen.

“My baby.”

“We’re getting both of you out.”

The winch pulled them away from the cliff.

Ava’s legs swung over open air.

The ocean roared below.

The Coast Guard helicopter lifted them toward the cabin.

As the rescuer guided Ava inside, her wrist device emitted one final vibration.

The remaining light turned green.

Upload complete.

Ava stared at it.

The device had transmitted more than the fall.

Cabin audio.

Door status.

Seat-belt release.

Altitude.

Her biometric distress.

Ethan’s watch identification.

The exact second her body separated from the aircraft.

The emergency activation.

The sabotage interruption.

Everything had been copied to an independent evidence server controlled by her company’s security division.

No single phone call could erase it.

No destroyed helicopter could bury it.

No grieving-husband performance could rewrite it.

A medic placed an oxygen mask over Ava’s face.

“Stay with me.”

Ava looked through the window.

Far below, emergency vehicles surrounded Ethan’s helicopter on the coastal highway.

She could not see him.

But she knew he had reached the ground.

The man who had thrown her from the sky was alive.

For the first time, Ava was grateful for that.
