Chapter 22 - CALEB AND MEWe separated for three months.

Not divorced.
Not reconciled either.
Caleb lived in a small apartment.
He came for dinner twice a week.
Maya saw him normally.
His failure was secrecy, not violence toward her.
He started therapy.
So did I.
Our therapist asked:
“What would Rachel have done if you told her Trent called?”
Caleb said:
“Asked questions.”
“What were you afraid she’d do?”
“Think my family was dangerous.”
I said:
“I do think parts of your family are dangerous.”
He flinched.
Then nodded.
May you like
“Yes.”
Progress begins when people stop demanding reassuring answers.
