Chapter 24 - The phone

Morwenna replaced her phone.
Not because the old one was evidence? It had been imaged through legal process? Better: she voluntarily preserved and produced relevant messages, then later replaced normally. No need.
The original device became symbolic in my head.
I kept imagining the bench.
Her screen.
C. Vale.
Videos.
For months I wanted every clip deleted.
Rebecca advised preservation until litigation ended.
Then Caroline asked:
“What do we do with them?”
The custody case was final.
No appeal.
Morwenna’s case resolved.
Attorneys confirmed retention copies where necessary.
Neither Caroline nor I needed Odelia’s crying videos sitting in ordinary phone albums.
Caroline deleted her personal copies after counsel approved.
Morwenna did too after compliance.
I never requested copies for myself.
Why would I?
Evidence had served its purpose.
Odelia’s distress did not need to become family archive.
One legal copy remained under retention.
Fine.

Not in my pocket.
That distinction mattered.
