Chapter 8 - My mistake

I made my first major mistake three days after the park.
I sent an email to Morwenna.
Subject:
Stay away from Odelia.
The useful part:
No school pickup.
No direct contact.
No visits without written agreement.
Then my anger took over.
I wrote:
You tortured a seven-year-old to manufacture evidence for a custody case. If Caroline tries to take Odelia using those videos, I will make sure every judge, every neighbor, and every person you know sees exactly what kind of mother and grandmother you are.
Tortured.
No.
What Morwenna did was cruel emotional provocation and humiliating discipline.
Not torture.
I also threatened broad social exposure.
Bad.
Rebecca called.
“You wrote what?”
I read it.
Silence.
Then:
“Never use the word torture casually in an active family case.”
“I know.”
“And stop threatening public exposure.”
“I wasn’t threatening violence.”
“Threats do not need to be violent to become strategically ugly.”
She was right.
Morwenna’s lawyer later attached my email to a request concerning communication boundaries.
Her argument:
Leander was volatile.
Retaliatory.
Threatening to publicly destroy anyone who disagreed with him.
That was exaggerated.
My email helped.
I sent a corrective message through counsel:
I withdraw the characterization “torture.” I am alleging deliberate emotional provocation, humiliating discipline, and unauthorized recording. Future communications will occur through counsel regarding Odelia.
Boring.
May you like
Better.
Anger can be justified and still produce sloppy nouns.
